Support worker - accomodation

Overview

To undertake a lead role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement.

1. To give guidance and support for young people and to manage the daily routine.

2. To manage the shift in the absence of the Deputy

3. To ensure/ provide cover for shift including if staff fail to arrive and until cover is identified by the

manager of Deputy.

4. To raise any concerns with the Deputy as appropriate.

In support of Key Responsibility 1

• To plan, manage and lead shifts ensuring young people are kept safe and engaged in their support plans.
• To ensure the Support Plan for each child is followed, always adhered to and updated at the end of the month.
• To ensure education is promoted and supported and that each child’s attendance in education is maintained.
• To ensure risk assessments are updated when appropriate to do so.
• Ensure monthly reports for key children are completed and given to the manager at the end of each month.
• Ensure that the files for young people are updated on a monthly basis.
• Ensure that handovers are completed in full to a good standard.
• Ensure the home office is compliant with GDPR.

In support of Key Responsibility 2

• To ensure that all staff act in a professional manner.
• To ensure all policies and procedures, as well as risk assessments, are always adhered to.
• To ensure that all staff comply with duty rotas and are included on a ‘rolling rota’ to gain maximum experience in the working methods of other staff.
• To ensure that all staff read the Daily Logbook to check all messages at the beginning of work or at any point during the working day as required (e.g. following a day trip).
• To ensure that all staff have written up any incident / accident forms or restraint forms as applicable and that such information is passed to the Registered Manager within the agreed timescale.
• To ensure that all staff are familiar with and follow Local Authority Child Protection Procedures.
• To report immediately to the Deputy Manager / on call manager any issues regarding Child Protection matters.
• To ensure that all staff are familiar with Policies and Guidance Notes about the care of children, as well as subsequent guidance.
• To ensure that all staff always maintain confidentiality.

In Support of Key Responsibility 3

• To raise any concerns regarding an individual member of staff’s progress or attitude with the Deputy Manager (if serious) or at the member of staff’s next supervision.
• To remain on shift within a senior capacity to cover sickness and absence. Try to access cover in partnership with the on-call manager or until cover is identified.

In Support of Key Responsibility 4

• To raise any serious issues or concerns directly with the Deputy or Registered Manager.

• To attend meetings and training as required.
• To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment.
• To be flexible in hours of work to meet tasks required.
• To be aware of Health and Safety regulations particularly as related to the upkeep of the building.
• To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested.
• To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and be aware of relevant policies and procedures.
• Adhere to and promote the Company’s Equalities, Inclusion and Diversity Policy.
