Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Staffordshire County Council is looking for a qualified social worker for the Assessment and Staying Together team in Newcastle-under-Lyme. This role focuses on safeguarding and supporting vulnerable children and young people through all stages of Care Proceedings.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work with families across the continuum of need from Child In Need through to the conclusion of Care Proceedings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Early Help, Children in Care, Care Leavers, Children with Disabilities, health and education as part of a District Model.
  • Co‑ordinate the child’s plan and complete statutory duties to ensure children are seen and heard.
  • Undertake Section 47 investigations.
  • Place children into Local Authority care when it is agreed they can no longer remain at home.
  • Prepare both Private and Public law reports.
  • Refer children into centralised services for specialist support.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Post‑qualifying experience working with vulnerable children and knowledge of safeguarding and children in care.
  • Current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Ideally completed ASYE before starting the role.
