Position: Relationship Specialist - FM 1960 Branch - Bilingual Preferred

The Relationship Specialist is responsible for building relationships with current and potential membership by not only meeting their immediate needs but consulting on future needs and recommending credit union products and services to meet those needs. The Relationship Specialist also delivers a superior member experience to members and potential members of the credit union who interact through branch locations and over the phone.

This individual must have a thorough understanding of credit union processes, products, and services to effectively communicate appropriate solutions. Applicants must have a strong proven sales background with the ability to meet or exceed established goals in a fast-paced environment. The role may also include teller duties and transactions as required during the day.

Responsibilities
  • Account opening and maintenance while proactively cross-selling credit union products and services to existing and potential members through in-person sales, phone, and written correspondence; answer questions and resolve complex technical problems on member accounts.
  • Process in-branch loan requests, uncover possible lending needs through conversations with members and mining credit reports; offer solutions that add value to the member relationship.
  • Provide service and support for members over the phone, handling routine requests and those requiring extensive research and problem-solving; take complete ownership of every call.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of branch sales promotion campaigns and perform other duties assigned by the Branch Manager, such as working on call lists or external activities to bring business to the branch.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Qualifications
  • One to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
Interpersonal Skills

Courtesy and tact are essential. The role involves personal contact with customers and others inside and outside the organization, generally concerning routine matters. Communications require short, clear discussions but may also involve in-depth dialogue, education, or advising on significant matters. The role demands a high level of trust, credibility, and diplomacy, handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to bend, sit, and stand for primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must climb/descend stairs in emergencies, operate routine office equipment, and work extended hours or travel off-site as required. Regular, reliable attendance is essential.

Working Conditions

Work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must perform job functions independently or with limited supervision, read and follow written and oral instructions, perform basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, use computers, speak clearly, and handle multiple, simultaneous, changing priorities. Ability to remain calm and professional under deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy, quality, and a fast pace is required.
