Position Summary

Mud Pie is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our team. This role will work closely alongside the Vice President of Human Resources and have visibility across all areas of the company, supporting both our corporate office and warehouse operations.

The Human Resources Assistant will support the HR team in all aspects of Mud Pie’s Human Resources Department by recruiting and onboarding new employees, engaging in employee outreach, administering compensation and benefits and other human resources functions.

Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have ability to self-manage and work well under strict deadlines and is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their HR career who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing details, and takes pride in accuracy and follow-through.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Recruiting & Onboarding
  • Assist with full-cycle recruiting efforts, including drafting job postings, attending university career fairs screening resumes, scheduling interviews, coordinating with outside recruiters, and preparing offer letters
  • Support new hire onboarding, including system setup (Paycom), payroll entry, desk/equipment coordination, and first-day orientation
  • Maintain accurate onboarding documentation and employee records
Employee Support & HR Administration
  • Serve as a point of contact for general HR questions related to payroll, compensation, benefits, and policies
  • Maintain and update employee files, HR databases, and compliance documentation with strong attention to detail
  • Assist with offboarding processes, including separation paperwork and system terminations
Payroll & Benefits Support
  • Support payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Assist with benefits administration, including new hire enrollment, open enrollment, and qualifying life events
  • Help maintain compliance and reporting related to benefits and payroll
Compliance & Safety
  • Assist with HR‑related compliance activities, including OSHA reporting, safety committee support, employee rosters, and training coordination
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Reporting & Systems
  • Maintain HR trackers and reports in Excel
  • Support HR data audits and ensure information accuracy across systems
  • Experience with Paycom strongly preferred
Requirements
  • Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field
  • 0-2+ year of experience
  • Experience in recruiting a plus
  • Experience with Paycom strongly preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel (Excel - including formulas, data organization, and reporting, Work, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
  • Self-starter who takes ownership and proactively solves problems
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, proven success in building professional partnerships, and comfortable working with a wide array of personalities and management styles
  • Problem-solver with the ability to identify issues and propose thoughtful solutions
  • Must have clear written and verbal communications skills
  • Maintain flexibility and a positive attitude under pressure
  • Be able to effectively read and interpret information, present numerical data in a resourceful manner, and skillfully gather and analyze information
  • Knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements that impact the Company and the Human Resources Department
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize projects effectively
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal, corporate and financial information
