Production Equipment Operator - THERMOFORMING

JOB SUMMARY:
Production Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the extruders and/or thermoformers. Ensures that product quality and efficiencies are maintained and that operating scrap is kept to an absolute minimum.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs duties needed to operate production line as assigned, producing a variety of products varying in material combination, thickness and width.
- Makes mechanical adjustments such as changing temperature, air setting, water pressure and temperature, speeds, and hydraulic pressure. Replaces simple worn out or broken mechanical components and records such adjustments.
- Replaces and documents simple worn out or broken mechanical components.
- Performs timely operator mechanical checks on all assigned equipment to ensure proper adjustments are maintained.
- Maintains established cycle settings on assigned machines to ensure production quality with minimal scrap.
- Periodically cleans dye lip and chrome rollers (extruder operator).
- Operates equipment including loading and unloading rolls and placing completed rolls in storage racks using lift truck.
- Cleans lines and detects jams or malfunctions of machines. Makes adjustments as necessary.
- Comply with all safety rules, policies, procedures and practices to include performing LOTO of production equipment when required.
- Performs equipment evaluations at the start of the shift to ensure production flow is consistent throughout.
- Perform “line checks” and all assigned quality and measurement tests of the product being made to inspect for defects and malfunctions every hour. Must document findings on the inspector checklist.
