Supervisor, Transportation

Ensure the safe and efficient transport of students to and from school by coordinating bus routes and managing daily operations. Provide leadership and guidance to a team, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.

Manage a functional team within the department. Organize programs and processes, establish tasks for the team, and set priorities. Work on issues requiring the analysis of data and a variety of relevant factors to resolve. Identify and resolve operational issues that may fall outside of established guidelines as they arise; recommend process improvements where needed based on sound project workflow principles.

Oversee the transportation of students, ensuring bus drivers cover assigned routes efficiently and on time, including field trips and athletic events. Manage school bus transportation logistics, routing, scheduling, and adjusting routes for effectiveness, safety, and efficiency. Supervise and support bus drivers and monitors, conduct evaluations, manage payroll discrepancies, and ensure compliance with federal and state laws as well as district policies.

Respond to emergencies involving buses after hours or on weekends and address customer service inquiries and stakeholder concerns promptly. Maintain vehicle maintenance records to ensure fleet safety and oversee compliance with regulations regarding drug and alcohol testing of drivers when required. Develop communications strategies, distribute reports to management, parents, schools, and other stakeholders, and attend meetings to stay current with Pupil Transportation Industry best practices.

Analyze data-relevant factors to identify operational issues outside established guidelines and implement continuous improvement using safety metrics and key performance indicators. Train staff, including bus drivers, for adherence to policies, procedures regulations, and rules while evaluating their performance for improvements or corrective actions needed. Prepare and maintain manual electronic documents and files and provide up-to-date reference audit trails. Resolve complaints regarding bus routes, schedules, transportation, personnel, or related issues.

Interact with subordinates, supervisors, and functional peer groups to interpret and explain information as necessary. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and/or experience: A High School diploma with at least three (3) years of related experience is required. An Associate's degree with at least one (1) year of related experience is preferred.
