Position Overview:
Stoneham Public Schools South Elementary School is seeking two highly collaborative Teaching and Learning Specialists to serve in an innovative shared classroom model designed to strengthen Tier 1 instruction across all grade levels. These specialists will work as a team, alternating between leading classroom instruction and providing in‑class modeling, coaching, and support to colleagues. This role is funded through the PRISM Grant and Title 1 and will serve as a pilot initiative to develop scalable, collaborative practices that enhance core instruction and student outcomes.

- Co‑plan and co‑manage a shared classroom, with one specialist leading instruction while the other provides instructional support across the building.
- Deliver high‑quality, standards‑aligned Tier 1 instruction using evidence‑based practices.
- Ensure consistent, rigorous instruction that supports diverse learners.
- Model effective Tier 1 literacy strategies in classrooms across all grade levels.
- Provide real‑time, job‑embedded support to teachers to strengthen instructional practices.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to improve fidelity of literacy instruction.
- Promote consistent, high‑quality instructional experiences for students across grade levels.
- Use shared expertise to support diverse learning needs within Tier 1 instruction.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Develop and share instructional materials aligned to Fishtank Learning and Think SRSD (e.g., slides, writing notebooks, and other resources).
- Support consistent implementation of curriculum across classrooms and grade levels.
- Collaborate on the development of instructional resources that improve student outcomes.
- Facilitate and support professional learning through demonstration lessons and collaborative planning.
- Serve as instructional leaders by sharing best practices and supporting colleagues across the school.
- Engage in continuous reflection and refinement of the shared classroom model.
- Contribute to the evaluation and refinement of this pilot model to inform potential district‑wide implementation.
- Remain open to expanding support into Math, Science, and Social Studies curriculum areas in the future.
- Support and lead different Elementary Wide PD opportunities.
- Valid teaching certification (Elementary or relevant field).
- Demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction and evidence‑based practices.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and coaching skills.
- Experience with curriculum development and instructional planning.
- Ability to model effective teaching practices and build positive relationships with staff and students.
- Salary plus $5,000 stipend (Stipends for these positions will be funded through the PRISM Grant and Title 1 funding).
