Job DescriptionStoneham Central Middle School is seeking an experienced and licensed educator to teach middle school level Physical Education and Health classes. Ideal candidates have experience working with adolescents in a school setting. Preferred candidates have experience and familiarity with Physical Education and Health curricula and a teaching philosophy and practices that provide access and success for all students and their unique learning styles and needs.
MA Teaching license required.
General ResponsibilitiesUsing the Stoneham Public School’s curriculum, plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school‑related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community.
Essential Tasks—General- Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the needs, interests and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
- Provide an instructional program to meet the needs of every student.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with those goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicate these objectives to students.
- Plan for and utilize instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques that motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives.
- Take all necessary and safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Establish relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.
- Appraise your own effectiveness and demonstrate successful application of skills and information acquired to increase effectiveness. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Perform other duties as required.
Work involves student interaction and is performed primarily in a classroom setting, with prolonged periods of standing. Occasional periods of bending, stooping and/or reaching may be required.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
Must be DESE licensed in the appropriate subject.
Effective DatesEffective July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
