Stoneham Public Schools is seeking an experienced special education teacher with training and expertise in specialized, multisensory, systematic reading instruction (i.e. Wilson, Orton‑Gillingham reading programs) and extensive knowledge of research‑based best practices, methods and instructional materials for writing and math. In addition to providing intensive, specialized instruction to address goals and objectives for students, this special educator will collaborate and consult with classroom teachers, participate in ongoing data team meetings and closely monitor the progress of all students on his/her caseload.
This special educator’s role will also include conducting Academic Evaluations for initial evaluations, and requires knowledge of formal diagnostic assessments and the ability to interpret and analyze results in order to provide oral and written reports.
Work with students to deliver specialized, multisensory, systematic reading instruction using Wilson and Orton‑Gillingham programs. Monitor student progress, collaborate with classroom teachers, and participate in data team meetings. Conduct academic evaluations and provide oral and written reports based on diagnostic assessments.
Qualifications- MA license in moderate special needs
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
- Training in specialized reading instructional practices/programs; certification in Wilson Reading/Orton‑Gillingham preferred
- Knowledge and experience in Academic Evaluation process and assessments
- Knowledge and experience in IEP writing, progress monitoring, and research‑based best practices for reading, math, and writing instruction
- Demonstrated knowledge of research‑based best practices related to accommodations and instructional methods and materials
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive, productive communication with families
