Teachers Aide/Paraprofessional for Extended Year Program
Title: Teaching Assistant/Instructional Aide
Reports to: Classroom Teacher
QualificationsQualifications: High School diploma, Associate's or Bachelor degree. Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
Scope of Duties- Responsible to and functions under the direction of the classroom Teacher.
- Assist the teacher in the delivery of instruction and the implementation of IEP goals and objectives.
- Ensure the safety of the children in all environments.
- Assist in facilitating independence, social awareness, language and appropriate behavior.
- Assist the teacher in the inclusion of students with special needs into the mainstream school.
- Assist the teacher in the collection of data.
- Participate in training in relevant areas.
- Carry out other assigned duties, e.g., supervise students at lunch or in the playground, be able to go on designated summer field trips including swimming, and other duties assigned by the classroom teacher, program principal or executive director.
- Must be able to lift, pull or push approximately 40 lbs and have the ability to move quickly from standing to floor and floor to standing.
- Must be willing to work with verbally and/or physically aggressive students.
- Employment contingent upon passing a SAFIS fingerprint and CORI screening.
