Job Description

Special Education teaching opportunity for the  school year. Licensed Special Education (Moderate Disabilities 5‑12) teachers are needed to join the Special Education Department.

Ideal Candidates
  • Licensed in Moderate Disabilities 5‑12
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Classroom experience within the secondary setting
  • Knowledge of and experience with completing and analyzing academic evaluation assessments (e.g., WIAT‑4, GORT‑5, etc.)
  • Knowledge of special education law and policy
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time‑management skills
Responsibilities
  • Creating a positive learning environment for students within the co‑taught and Learning Strategies settings that align with Universally Designed Learning (UDL) standards.
  • Collaborating with the Special Education Coordinator to support instruction and ensure the delivery of services aligns with each student’s service delivery grid.
  • Facilitating and analyzing academic testing.
  • Acting as Team Chair for Annual Review meetings for students on the caseload.
  • Writing, editing, and developing effective Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Co‑teaching alongside a general education teacher within a core‑4 content area.
  • Providing consultation to general education teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, and student needs.
  • Providing accommodations and modifications to students within the co‑taught and Learning Strategies setting.
  • Differentiating research‑based instruction and implementing specially designed instruction to meet the needs of all students.
  • Managing caseloads, including parent communication, interdepartmental collaboration, and tracking student data to identify progress and write reports.
