Job Summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to provide clinical and technical support at the Stoneham ophthalmology site. This full‑time role supports outpatient eye care services, performing a variety of ophthalmic procedures, preparing patients for examination, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. The position is Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekends.

Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) required and maintained in good standing.
Experience
  • At least one year of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant in a supervised clinical setting required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, clinical procedures, and diagnostic testing.
  • Strong interpersonal and patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the care team.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient‑centered care while supporting efficient clinic operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound judgment, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
