Diesel Technician

Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

• Hourly Pay: 40.89 per hour
• Certification Bonus: 100 per new ASE certification up to 700 total
• Quarterly Bonus: up to 500 every quarter

• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday. Weekends off.
• Hours:
  
  Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Basic diagnostics and repairs including AC and electrical systems
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred; required to obtain within 6 months after hire
• All other certifications required by location
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years

• Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
• Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
• Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Works unsupervised on most tasks
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once task assigned
• Utilizes key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
• Works in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents
• Other support duties as required, including Service Island support
• Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
  220)
• Complete 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days
