Diesel Mechanic Technician

Position Description

Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Stoneham, Massachusetts—offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.

• Hourly Pay: $35.75 per hour
• Certification Bonus up to $700 ($100 for each new ASE Certification obtained)
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

  Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, required)
• Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background & motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years)

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance
• Perform standard component inspections and repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once a task is assigned
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
