Position Overview

Position:
Senior Diesel Technician – Permanent Full Time.

Location:

Ryder, Stoneham, Massachusetts. This role involves maintaining and repairing heavy‑duty diesel vehicles for our truck fleet.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $40.89 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: up to $700 for new ASE certifications
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter

    Monday – Friday, weekends off
  • Hours:

    Second shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
  • Basic mechanical tools
  • Three (3) years or more relevant experience in automotive gas or diesel engine repair
  • Minimum 2 years of mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class A (required)
  • Computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse)
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL within six months if not already licensed
  • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check
Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair tasks, including preventive maintenance, diagnostics, component replacement, and complex inspections with minimal supervision.
  • Conduct facility maintenance duties.
  • Interact with customers and drivers to determine complaint nature and assign tasks.
  • Use shop management system and electronic documentation.
  • Adhere to all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
  • Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 technicians.
  • Access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
  • Support operations as required, including Service Island support.
  • Complete required training: SBTIII and OEM online diagnostic scan tool courses within specified time frames.
