Commercial Refrigeration Technician - up to $5,000 sign-on bonuses
Sila Services/NETR is a residential and commercial heating and cooling company that has been in business for nearly 35 years. The company provides on-the-job and professional training to employees.
This role will install, service, and maintain commercial refrigeration equipment such as walk-in freezers, walk-in refrigerators, chillers, reach-ins, and more. The technician will troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems, read wiring diagrams, operate electronic controls, and perform preventive maintenance.
Compensation: $55-60 per hour with potential to earn $125,000-$135,000+ annually. Bonuses, commissions, overtime at time and a half for hours over 8 in a day.

- Refrigeration system diagnostics & repair – troubleshoot and repair commercial refrigeration systems (walk-in coolers/freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, display cases)
- Electrical troubleshooting – read wiring diagrams, test circuits, diagnose motors, relays, contractors, control boards
- Refrigerant handling – safe handling, charging, recovery, leak detection of refrigerants (EPA certified)
- HVACR system knowledge – understand compressors, evaporators, condensers, expansion valves, defrost systems
- Preventive maintenance – scheduled maintenance such as coil cleaning, belt inspection, pressure checks, system performance verification
- Control systems knowledge – experience with electronic controllers, thermostats, sensors, defrost timers
- Pressure & temperature analysis – interpret superheat, subcooling, pressure readings to diagnose issues
- EPA Section 608 Certification (required in the U.S.)
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- HVAC/R technical certification or trade school training (preferred or required)
- Equipment experience: servicing walk-in coolers/freezers, repairing commercial ice machines, working on supermarket rack systems (preferred for higher-level technicians), experience with remote condensing units and refrigeration racks
- Use of manifold gauges, multimeters, clamp meters, vacuum pumps, recovery machines
- Ability to braze and solder refrigeration lines
- Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, service manuals
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
- Customer service skills for interacting with restaurant/store managers
- Time management and ability to work independently in the field
- Clear communication and service documentation
Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in confined or cold spaces
- Comfortable working on ladders and rooftops
- Ability to work on-call, evenings, or weekends for emergency service
- 5+ years of commercial refrigeration or HVACR service experience (typical requirement)
- Experience working with restaurants, supermarkets, or food-service equipment
