C. This is an in‑office position in either our Stonington, CT or Charlotte, NC office. This position is not remote.
Successful candidate will be relied upon to perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff. Successful candidate should have past experience with evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria. Individual will assist with performing calculations, modifications, and designs. Individual will possess technical knowledge of the electrical discipline and ability to work on project teams with other engineers to assist with evaluating conditions, proposing modifications, and developing design changes which will improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.
Responsibilities- Perform engineering and design activities for power plant upgrades and new projects under supervision of senior staff.
- Develop calculations, modifications, and designs.
- Work with project teams to evaluate conditions, propose modifications, and develop design changes to improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.
Education Required (minimum): BS in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
Experience Required (minimum): Demonstrated knowledge of electrical power distribution systems (switch gear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, etc.) and familiarity with electrical load flow, voltage drop, and short circuit calculation methodology. Knowledge can be demonstrated through academic record or work experience.
Other Required Qualifications (minimum): Excellent verbal and written communication skills; presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Effective time management skills. Ability to pass security and drug screening, maintain unescorted nuclear plant access. Overtime and travel required. Ability to perform walk‑downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, including climbing ladders, accessing security‑controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas.
Preferred Education: MS electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
Preferred Experience: Experience in the nuclear power industry and actual field experience on nuclear plant projects. Electrical Distribution System Modeling and Calculation experience using ETAP or SKM software.
Preferred Certification: Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
