Job Description
Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE) is seeking an Engineer VI, I&C for a direct-hire position located in Charlotte, NC, or Stonington, CT. This is an in‑office position; remote work is not available.
Position SynopsisEngineer VI, I&C will perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects. The engineer should have extensive experience with power plant system instrumentation and control strategies, technical knowledge of legacy equipment, and a thorough understanding of digital control system design on the latest platforms.
Key responsibilities include planning, organizing, and preparing modifications; selecting standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria for technical projects; developing specifications and modification packages; defining I&C design scope and criteria documents; selecting control valves and instruments; developing control system functionality and architectures; defining I/O device interfaces; managing budget, scope, schedule, and quality; interfacing and coordinating with multiple design disciplines and client representatives; reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers;
mentoring entry‑level and junior engineers.
Education Required (minimum): BS in electrical, mechanical, nuclear, chemical, computer or process/controls engineering from an ABET‑accredited program that includes coursework in analog and digital control systems.
Experience Required (minimum): 18 years of experience, with at least 8 years in the nuclear power industry, preferably with digital/analog control systems. Experience with operating plant procedures, processes, and nuclear plant licensing.

Required Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); effective time management; ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access; willingness to work overtime and travel to client sites; ability to perform walk‑downs of equipment, including climbing ladders, accessing security‑controlled areas, and entering confined and hazardous spaces.
Preferred Education: MS in a related field from an ABET‑accredited program.
Preferred Experience: Actual field experience on nuclear plant projects.
Preferred Certification: Professional Engineering (PE) registration.
