Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE) is currently seeking an Engineer VI.
Position SynopsisIndividual will be relied upon to perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects. The individual should have extensive experience with power plant systems, components, and structures related to their engineering discipline. They will be responsible for planning, organizing, and preparing modifications, independently evaluating and selecting standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria for technical projects.
They must be familiar with codes and standards applicable to the nuclear power industry and possess a working knowledge of applicable NRC regulations.
- Develop specifications and/or modification packages, define design scope, and develop design criteria documents.
- Select equipment and instruments and develop system functionality.
- Manage budget, scope, schedule, and quality associated with designated work assignments with minimal guidance.
- Devise new approaches to technical problems and apply industry precedents.
- Interface and coordinate with multiple design disciplines and customer representatives.
- Work on project teams with other engineers to evaluate conditions and propose modifications that improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.
- Review and check designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers.
- Manage project teams and provide mentoring oversight to entry‑level and junior engineers.
Education Required (minimum): BS in an applicable discipline from an ABET accredited engineering program.
Education Desired: MS in an applicable discipline from an ABET accredited engineering program.
Experience Required (minimum): 20 years of related experience, including at least 10 years with nuclear commercial power plant experience and actual field experience on nuclear plant projects, along with experience with operating plant procedures, processes, and nuclear plant licensing.
Other Required Qualifications (minimum): Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); effective time‑management skills; ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access; willingness to work overtime, travel to client sites, and perform walk‑downs in industrial plant environments, including climbing ladders and entering confined and hazardous areas.
Certifications or Licenses Desired: Professional Engineering registration (PE).
