Under the general direction of the Test Supervisor, this role inspects finished equipment to ensure that these products meet the engineering and quality requirements of the Company. Recommends and performs electrical, mechanical and safety inspections for parts, tools, subassemblies, assemblies and final product. Performs a variety of quality control tasks. Provides support, in the form of technical consultation, includes advice on process capabilities to customers and sales personnel.
Conducts on-site evaluations, system start-up and customer training.
- Inspects all assemblies and finished equipment for conformance to all current electrical, mechanical and safety standards by using established inspection checklists and test procedures.
- Consults with sales groups and engineering to rectify discrepancies discovered during inspection pertaining to design, function or safety.
- Must be able to safely work and maintain control of an energized test area.
- Recommends quality improvement projects and initiates corrective action to eliminate future problems of inspection.
- Recommends changes to current engineering and quality standards to improve overall product performance.
- Consults and advises on field service problems, recommending solutions to mechanical and electrical issues.
- Maintains quality records/files for product liability purposes.
- Regularly consults with superior on progress of machinery in test.
- Ensuring the integration of the quality management system requirements into the organization’s business processes to ensure customer satisfaction (internal and external); support non-conformity reporting and continuous improvement.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring design.
- Must be able to read wiring schematics.
- Basic knowledge of extruder controls and systems.
- Epicor/Vantage preferred.
- Detail oriented.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with designing/trouble shooting control systems.
- Minimum of 3 years experience performing machine wiring.
- Technical degree (minimum of AS) in electrical design and/or electronics.
- Comparable field experience in lieu of degree.
