Description

Stony Brook University is the premier academic medical center in Suffolk County, New York. The University Hospital offers state‑of‑the‑art care including for patients presenting with acute psychiatric problems. Services include the only Suffolk County Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP).

The Clinical Assistant Professor will be responsible for psychiatric evaluation and management of patients in the CPEP/ED of University Hospital. The role also includes teaching and supervision of medical students and residents.

Work Hours and Compensation

Shifts total hours per week consisting of four 10‑hour afternoon/evening shifts from 1 pm–11 pm and one weekend shift per week. Cross‑coverage as necessary. Salary starts at $308,000 per year plus eligibility for a production incentive bonus. Further compensation and benefits, including NY State Pension offerings, are available.

Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications: MD/DO (or foreign equivalent). New York State license, or eligibility. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Adult Psychiatry.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Clinical experience with psychiatric patients in a Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program or other psychiatric emergency setting. Track record in teaching experience in emergency psychiatry. Training in child psychiatry.

Tenure/Non‑Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine. Anticipated start date: as soon as possible.
