Location:
Stony Brook, New York
Open Date:
Feb 24, 2026
at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
The Program in Public Health (PPH) in collaboration with the Department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine seeks to hire, engage, and mentor one PRODIG+ Fellow with biostatistics training/background who can help catalyze our campus' commitment to inclusive, solutions‑driven research and scholarship with a particular research focus on cognitive aging, brain aging, cognitive impairment, dementia, and/or trauma.
Stony Brook University is the flagship research university for The State University of New York (SUNY). As a public university dedicated to addressing society's greatest challenges through research and education, we maintain a genuine commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Inclusion is key to academic excellence, new discoveries, and societal change.
PRODIG Plus is designed to (1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion and (2) strengthen the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates. More information about the fellowship is available at https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
PRODIG Plus Fellows will engage in scholarship and teaching in clusters that represent key areas in Stony Brook's current and growing strengths, pedagogical advances, and service in the department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine and the broader Stony Brook campus.
PRODIG Plus Fellows are fully funded by SUNY for full‑time, non‑tenure‑track lecturer positions appointed on 12‑month contracts at an annual salary of $80,000 with comprehensive state benefits. The successful candidate will commence in the Fall of 2026. The fellow will be part of a mentored research environment intersecting public health, neurology, and the cognitive neuroscience of aging. The fellow will have a modest teaching load (one course per calendar year in the PPH's MPH or PhD programs, which includes courses in advanced methods for content areas within a population health and/or clinical outcomes focused curriculum).
Upon successful performance and demonstrated equitable and inclusive teaching strategies focused on student success, the fellow will be invited to join the tenure‑track faculty at Stony Brook University after two years, with 50% of their time/effort contributed to PPH, through an internal promotion process.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated plans to study questions that integrate diverse populations or interrogate equity and inclusion at the individual level. They must also show excellence in innovative research and scholarship in epidemiology, biostatistics/quantitative methods, neurology, and/or cognitive neuroscience and have the potential to contribute to the teaching and research mission of the PPH. The candidate will be expected to be an effective interdisciplinary teacher, a mentor at the graduate and doctoral levels to guide research and professional development, provide statistical consultation to Neurology faculty, and an active participant in community outreach activities.
During the two‑year appointment, the fellow will meet with university mentors who will facilitate faculty development and growth and support their research progress. Mentorship will center on paths to academic excellence, success, and achieving Stony Brook's mission and core values.
