Description

Stony Brook University invites applications for a SUNY Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in the Department of Computer Science. This fellowship is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the lecturer level and will commence in Fall 2026. The PRODiG Plus program is designed with two goals: (1) increasing the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion;

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate's primary appointment will be in Computer Science in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Applicants must

  • Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
  • Hold a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited institution in Computer Science or a closely related field prior to the start date.
  • Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer, unpaid, or community service; or related experience or expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of or potential for excellence in research and service.
  • Undergraduate and graduate teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across diverse fields.
  • Background in artificial intelligence or machine learning.

Preference will be given to candidates who are:

  • Current SUNY students, alumni, and or Fellows.
  • From a low-income background (e.g. Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are Ameri Corps alumni or are veterans.
