Public Health Instructional Faculty, Instructor​/Assistant Professor, Program in Public Health

The Program in Public Health at Stony Brook seeks a non‑tenure‑track instructor to provide innovative instruction for the Master of Public Health (MPH) program and potentially contribute to other degree programs. The role is primarily teaching‑focused with an 87.5 % teaching and 12.5 % service expectation (7 courses over a 12‑month period, including advising). The instructor will support graduate instruction in areas such as community health, health policy and management, advanced epidemiology and biostatistics, climate solutions and health, and a generalist option for clinical students.

Interest in quantitative methods—including biostatistics, epidemiology, data analytics, and research methods—is highly encouraged.

• Teach graduate courses and provide career advising as part of a faculty supervision and applied practice framework.
• Contribute to departmental and institutional service activities in line with the 12.5 % service duty.
• Participate in continuing professional development, including conferences, workshops, online tutorials, and professional organization memberships.
• Adhere to and contribute to accreditation requirements for competency‑based curricula and assessments.

• Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent or higher) in public health or a related field and at least two years of teaching experience.
• Demonstrated or potential for excellence in teaching.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience working with diverse student populations.

• Doctoral degree (PhD or DrPH), or foreign equivalent, in public health or a related field.
• At least two years of experience teaching biostatistics, epidemiology, or data analysis at the graduate level.

Base salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year plus $4,000 annual location pay. The position is eligible for additional institutional benefits consistent with non‑tenure‑track faculty.

The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation and comply with the Title II Crime Awareness and Security Act.
