Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
- Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Engineering or a related field.
- Five (5) years of full-time, directly related experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Engineering and Construction Documents.
- Experience with computer‑aided systems, preferably AutoCAD 2022 or greater.
- Working knowledge of New York State building code, National Electric Code (NEC), and ASHRAE to ensure proper designs.
- Must possess, keep, and maintain an appropriate valid NYS Driver’s License; have a motor vehicle record free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
- New York State Professional Engineering License.
- New York State Certified Code Enforcement Official.
- Directly related design experience with an engineering design firm or Federal, State, or Local Municipality Facilities Design department.
- Proficiency with Building Information Modeling and construction management software (Kahua, E‑builder).
- Experience supervising the physical implementation of design services.
- Experience designing Research Labs and research equipment.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Engineer will provide engineering design, project management, and construction administration services for capital and local projects supporting campus facilities and infrastructure. The incumbent will diagnose facility issues, develop design solutions, prepare drawings and specifications, review consultant work and contractor bids, manage multiple projects, ensure compliance with SUNY and regulatory standards, coordinate with architects, engineers, and state agencies, and oversee construction activities to support safe, efficient, and resilient campus operations.
- Provide engineering design services for physical alteration work that is funded by the Capital Plan and local projects to be administered by the HSC design and construction department.
- Diagnose project and facility‑related issues to identify program needs and requirements.
- Develop and design effective solutions to address identified issues and operational needs.
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and related project documentation as needed.
- Review and evaluate contractor bids and proposals when required.
- Conduct field inspections and verification to ensure construction work complies with approved design drawings and specifications.
- Verify that completed projects and implemented designs effectively resolve the original program requirements and objectives.
- Create and develop original designs using AutoCAD.
- Provide design and management services for new facilities and alterations to existing facilities using SUNY standards.
- Participate in the planning and development of campus construction and renovation projects.
- Collaborate with internal and external architectural and engineering firms throughout all phases of projects.
- Review completed drawings and plans to ensure compliance with campus program specifications and requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and engineering systems to support the successful completion of projects.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the University and the State University Construction Fund (SUCF) and other State agencies.
- Manage multiple design projects concurrently, both Capital and local projects for in‑house design and design with outside consultant architects and engineers.
- Review work submitted by consultants for completeness, clarity, constructability, correctness, and consideration of all applicable New York State codes, National Electric Codes (NEC), and ASHRAE.
- Develop, implement, and maintain campus standards to ensure consistency, compliance, and quality across projects and facilities.
