Medical Radiographer-Cat Scan

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a Medical Radiographer – Cat Scan is a valuable member of our team, providing clinical services to our patient population. The role involves producing diagnostic exams, positioning, and transporting patients, applying immobilization devices, selecting and operating equipment, and ensuring patient safety and quality care.

• Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
• Assists physicians in administering opaque media and delegates authority as needed.
• Acts as supervisor in absence of a senior technologist.
• Performs first aid, practices sterile technique, and prevents cross‑contamination.
• Conducts periodic quality control tests and participates in specialized research.
• Teaches radiology students and hospital personnel on equipment operations.

• Graduate from a Diagnostic Radiology Technology program.
• NYS DOH licensed in Diagnostic Radiology Technology with IV Contrast Injection certification.
• ARRT‑CT certified.
• Current BLS certification.

* If the candidate does not have IV Contrast Injection certification, they must be certified within the first 2 months of hire. If the candidate does not have ARRT‑CT certification, they must be certified within the first 12 months of hire.

• Hospital experience.
• CT experience.

• Pre‑employment physical examination and medical clearance.
• Electronic reference check with at least three professional references.
• 4‑panel drug screen.
• Meeting regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings.
• Provide required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Salary range: $96,393 – $122,251 Base. Additional supplemental pay includes location pay, shift differentials, and other incentives.
