Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health is hiring an Addiction Psychologist. Bring your clinical expertise and join us today to help address the prevalence of substance abuse disorders and the opioid epidemic in Suffolk County.

Description

Suffolk County, New York, where Stony Brook University is situated, is currently suffering from an opioid epidemic in addition to the typical prevalence of other substance use disorders. This has led to the creation of a Division of Addiction Psychiatry. The Clinical Psychologist will be expected to provide evidence-based therapeutic services for patients with substance use disorders which will be a primary focus for this position.

Responsibilities include direct patient care (at least 90% effort), including diagnostic evaluations, individual and group psychotherapy, and research/academic activities (up to 10% effort).

The Clinical Assistant Professor will provide teaching/supervising evidence-based psychosocial interventions for addiction to medical students and residents in psychiatry and other departments, as well as providing clinical care.

Schedule:

Full-Time schedule totaling forty hours per week, including the possibility of evening hours; 50-100% of appointments/work via telehealth.
