Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
Five (5) years of full-time progressive experience in financial management, budgeting, or business operations.
Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, variance analysis, and business trend evaluation.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, and complex formulas.
Experience with contract management and/or procurement processes.
Experience managing complex budgets with multiple funding sources.
Experience supervising professional staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in business administration or related field.
Additional years (6+) years of full-time progressive experience in financial management, budgeting, or business operations.
Experience with higher education, residential facilities, SBU, State University of NY (SUNY), NYS, and/or Dormitory Authority of State of NY (DASNY) systems.
Experience with NYS Office of General Services (OGS) procurement processes, Capital Construction, and/or renovation and rehabilitation procedures.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Director of Business Operations for Campus Residences serves as the senior business and financial operations leader in Campus Residences, reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Campus Residences. In addition to ensuring fiscal integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance, the incumbent leads and develops a team, fostering a culture of operational excellence and accountability across multiple operational departments. The Director works closely with Student Affairs and Campus Residences senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies, manage budgets, direct business operations, and support operational excellence across multiple service areas.

To be successful in this position, excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are needed. It is essential for the Director to communicate and collaborate effectively across different departments and be able to present financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
