Clinical Instructor/Nurse Practitioner
The Department of Pediatrics at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital is seeking a Clinical Instructor/Nurse Practitioner faculty for the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. The position is full‑time, faculty, clinical instructor level.
Must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to carry out assignments independently also required.
Responsibilities and Requirements- The Nurse Practitioner will provide both in-patient and out-patient care, including telehealth, to patients in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
- Provide comprehensive care to patients of Stony Brook Children’s in collaboration with an Attending Physician.
- Communicate with patients/families to obtain accurate information for records.
- Address concerns and engage families in the plan of care.
- Explain procedures as appropriate.
- Ensure execution of provider‑established plan of care, including follow-up visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic labs, imaging studies and procedures.
- Contribute to patient care through patient and family education, population health management, encouraging patient self‑management, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed.
- Act as liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services.
- Educate nursing staff as appropriate regarding provider‑led quality issues/metrics.
- New York State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or completion of a course for a Nurse Practitioner.
- Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.
- Must successfully clear a background investigation.
- Three or more years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.
- Clinical experience in PICU, gastroenterology and endoscopy.
Non‑Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for overtime provisions of the FLSA.
