Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist
The Department of Pediatrics at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital is seeking Clinical Instructor/Nurse Practitioner faculty for the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. The position will be full‑time, faculty, academic at the Clinical Instructor level. Must have excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Ability to carry out assignments independently also required.
Responsibilities and Requirements- Provide in‑patient, out‑patient and telehealth care to patients in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
- Provide comprehensive care in collaboration with an Attending Physician; communicate with patients and families to obtain accurate information, address concerns, engage in plan of care, explain procedures, and ensure execution of the provider‑established plan of care including follow‑up visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic labs, imaging studies and/or procedures.
- Contribute to patient care through patient and family education, population health management, encouraging patient self‑management, distributing resource literature, community‑service recommendations and referrals as needed.
- Liaise with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services.
- Educate nursing staff regarding provider‑led quality issues/metrics.
- New York State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or completion of a course for a Nurse Practitioner.
- Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.
- Three or more years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.
- Clinical experience in PICU, gastroenterology and endoscopy preferred.
Non‑Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for overtime provisions of the FLSA.
