Senior Postdoctoral Associate
Required QualificationsDoctoral Degree or foreign equivalent degree. Three years of research experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence with a preferred focus on computer vision and medical image analysis.
Preferred QualificationsPhD in Medical Physics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics or MD with significant concentration in Biomedical informatics, artificial intelligence, data warehousing and machine learning potentially with a MS/M Engineering in the areas above.
- Prior experience with Oncology applications strongly preferred.
- Strong motivation for research and experience in managing research projects.
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages: C++, Python, Matlab, R.
- Building analytical pipelines that include image processing, image registration, auto‑segmentation, feature extraction, pathomics, and radiomic analysis.
- Proficiency in core methods of machine learning/artificial intelligence.
- Experience with data warehousing and building large, curated datasets with protected health information, suitable for training large AI models.
- Meaningful experience with generative AI models.
- Excellent oral and written scientific communication skills.
The Senior Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator(s) in the department of Radiation Oncology. The incumbent will independently and/or with colleagues conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The incumbent will assist the Principal Investigators with the supervision and management of the lab.
- Build radiomic models leveraging imaging and clinical data from our key patient populations to support more accurate diagnosis, staging and clinical decision making.
- Developing custom models for auto‑segmentation and auto‑registration of patient images to streamline our radiomic and clinical workflows.
- Design and build a working research data warehouse to support the above, which could be scaled to larger efforts within the Stony Brook Cancer Center.
- Participate in manuscript writing for scientific journals/presentation and grant writing.
- Attend and present at regular research meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
- Carry out independent research in the field of Radiation Oncology and Biomedical Informatics on the projects described above.
- Oral presentation during lab meetings. May attend conferences and seminars.
- Lab management, including oversight/supervision of Undergraduate and/or Graduate students, Research Technicians, or provide training in various research methods.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
