Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Associates degree (foreign equivalent or higher). In lieu of the degree, two (2) years of full‑time experience performing standard biochemistry techniques such as cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blots may be considered. One (1) year of full‑time experience performing standard biochemistry techniques such as cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blots.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology or related discipline, in hand by start date. Experience performing standard biochemistry techniques such as cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blots.
Brief Description of Duties: Successful candidates will work in Dr. Jae Ho Lee’s lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Primary responsibilities will include maintaining, organizing, and ordering lab reagents and glassware. In addition, the candidate will work with Dr. Lee to design and perform experiments to interrogate mechanisms that ensure proper biogenesis of proteins. The candidate is expected to learn and develop new experimental techniques, have strong interpersonal skills to work with other members of the lab, and strong organizational skills to keep the lab organized.
Assist with research projects, maintain and organize lab reagents, clean and sterilize lab glassware, and participate in weekly meetings.
Duties:
- Conduct research experiments in the field of ribosome biology within the predetermined research scope and methodology.
- Collect and analyze data, including periodic literature searches and use of specialized skills to analyze the collected data.
- Participate in or assist with manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations; may also assist in grant writing.
- Perform lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned, which may include attending scientific conferences and meetings.
Special Notes: The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non‑Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
