Job Description Job Summary
The Loan Assistant provides administrative support to loan officers by preparing loan disclosures, assisting with loan documentation preparation, generating correspondence, and scheduling appointments. They will ensure that loan documentation is in compliance with required standards and that collateral is properly recorded. The Loan Assistant will maintain loan files by performing file maintenance and ensuring that the bank’s systems accurately reflect the loan status.
This individual will prepare reports by compiling information as needed. The Loan Assistant will handle customers’ problems and inquiries and assist other bank representatives as necessary.
- Provide administrative support to loan officers by preparing loan disclosures and assisting with loan documentation preparation.
- Prepare a variety of correspondence, send paid loan documents, request information, and other correspondence as directed by loan officers.
- Ensure that loan documentation complies with required standards and that collateral is properly recorded.
- Review loan documentation prior to closing, ensuring that all required documents have been prepared.
- Review loan documentation post-closing, following up to obtain any signatures or additional documentation needed.
- Ensure that collateral documents have been properly recorded and maintain a system to ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Maintain the loan files.
- Review loan documents to ensure that loans have been properly input into the bank’s system.
- Input information to update a loan’s status, such as extensions, modifications, and payments.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the bank’s computer systems, particularly those regarding loan functions.
- Work in concert with management, and with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with bank policies and procedures and federal and state regulations.
- Work closely with the lenders to prepare loan input sheets for the documentation department. Paying close attention to document details from the beginning of the loan process to the closing of loans.
- Prepare loan tickets for payments and advances. Assist customers with inquiries regarding loans.
- Maintain loan files, and strong knowledge of the bank’s computer and banking programs. Follow up with borrowers when updated paperwork is needed.
- Work closely with loan documentation and loan processing to ensure loans are perfected for the borrowers.
- Prepare payoffs and/or wires as requested.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to resolve problems and make decisions within the assigned scope of authority.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is highly desirable.
- Ability to work with customers, to work effectively as a team contributor and to make decisions considering what would be in the best interest of the bank.
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. Act professionally with other employees and with customers and work effectively as a team contributor.
