Furst-McNess Company is hiring a full-time Over the Road (OTR) CDL Truck Driver based out of our Storm Lake, IA location.
- Regional driving routes – home every weekend.
Candidates must reside within approximately 3.5 hours of Storm Lake, IA to support operational and scheduling needs.
Service AreaRoutes primarily serve customers throughout the Midwest and surrounding regions, including Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, Dakotas, Eastern Wyoming, Eastern Montana, and Eastern Colorado.

Core Weekly ScheduleMonday - Friday. Drivers typically spend 3 nights per week on the road and are home for weekends. Overnight travel may occasionally extend to 4 nights per week based on business needs.
Equipment Provided- Company-provided sleeper-equipped Class A semi-truck and trailer
- Manual transmission truck
- Potential take-home truck privilege for drivers living within the approved service area, based on location and operational needs
Total compensation will be determined by relevant experience and the interview process

Position SummaryFurst-McNess Company is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Over the Road (OTR) CDL Driver to transport animal nutrition products throughout an assigned region using a company-provided sleeper-equipped tractor-trailer. Drivers are responsible for making safe, on-time deliveries to farms, vendor locations, McNess facilities, and other destinations that support business operations. This position plays a critical role in serving customers, supporting company logistics needs, and ensuring compliance with all transportation and safety regulations.
Drivers can expect regular overnight travel, operation of a company-provided sleeper truck, and the opportunity to represent Furst-McNess as a trusted partner to customers and business partners throughout their route network.
- Operate a Class A CDL tractor-trailer to deliver products to customers and company locations
- Transport products efficiently while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company policies
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD)
- Communicate delivery updates, delays, and transportation issues as needed
- Load, move, and unload product as required, including use of pallet jacks
- Perform backhauls and return freight pickups as assigned
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle appearance
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety, food safety, and biosecurity procedures
- Report vehicle maintenance or repair needs promptly
- Represent Furst‑McNess with professionalism and strong customer service
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Ability to safely operate and drive manual transmission Class A CDL tractor-trailers
- Acceptable driving record and ability to meet DOT requirements
- Previous OTR Class A CDL driving experience preferred
- Ability to travel overnight and spend multiple nights during the week away from home as business needs require
- Comfortable with mobile technology, ELDs, and routing applications
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and safely move products using material handling equipment when needed
