This varied role is an excellent opportunity and is ideally suited to an experienced operative with a gas background, heating engineer/plumber or other skilled Electrical or Mechanical background. You will ideally hold a City and Guilds and/or ACS accreditation in your field.

This exciting opportunity has arisen within our Scottish Independent Undertakings (SIUs). The SIU's are unique in the UK in that they are not connected to the National Grid system and use Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as a feedstock.

The duties of this role will be multi-skilled, and the successful applicant will be involved in core SGN duties including emergency response, meter work and boiler servicing. Further skills will be developed over time to include distribution activities and LPG plant duties. Full and detailed training in all SIU activities will be given to the successful candidate and you will be provided with all PPE, specific tools and equipment to carry out your role.

What you will need

• Ideally you will be a time served skilled tradesperson or nearing the completion of your apprenticeship.
• A friendly and approachable attitude with excellent customer service skills, as you will be dealing with members of the public
• Preferably holding a City and Guilds and or Gas Safe ACS accreditation
• You will be reliable, practical, and hardworking
• You will be working on a standby rota, responding to calls out of hours
• Have good leadership qualities together with excellent inter-personal skills
• Able to work individually or as part of a team
• You must hold a full driving licence
• Have the ability to use field IT equipment and achieve high standards of safety and technical competence.
