Part Time Controller Construction & Home Improvement

We are a growing and well-established home improvement and roofing company known for delivering exceptional craftsmanship and customer service. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our financial operations and support the continued growth of the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong construction industry experience who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Position Overview

The Controller will oversee all day-to-day accounting and financial functions, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and sound financial management. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of construction accounting practices, advanced Quick Books experience, and the ability to partner closely with leadership on financial planning and business strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, job costing, and general ledger activity
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP/accounting standards and applicable financial regulations
  • Reconcile bank accounts and oversee all financial transactions and reporting accuracy
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Monitor company cash flow and support overall financial health of the organization
  • Utilize Quick Books for daily accounting functions, reporting, and financial analysis
  • Partner with ownership and leadership team to support strategic planning and business decisions
  • Coordinate with outside CPA firms, auditors, and tax professionals
  • Assist with process improvements and implementation of accounting systems and operational efficiencies
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably within construction, roofing, or home improvement industries
  • Strong proficiency with Quick Books required
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of construction accounting principles including job costing and project-based financial reporting
  • Payroll administration experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and operations teams
