Stoughton Health has an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Services Technician to join our team on a Full-Time basis in our Environmental Services Department.
The Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech) is responsible for performing routine cleaning duties to keep assigned areas in a clean and orderly condition. Responsible for maintaining necessary stocks of cleaning supplies and disposing of designated accumulated waste products.
The EVS Tech is detail-oriented and desires to be a part of a great infection prevention team. This position works independently cleaning outpatient areas. In addition to cleaning the tech will do trash pick-up, dust mopping, vacuuming, mopping, and machine scrubbing of floors and sanitizing high-touch surfaces.
Essential Functions:- Familiar with Infection Control Protocols
- Required to handle biohazard materials safely, including using proper PPE (gloves, gowns, masks, face fields) and disposal methods. Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols and equipment specific cleaning requirements.
- Knowledge of deep-cleaning procedures for patient discharge or surgical areas, ensuring all surfaces are disinfected to hospital standards.
- Perform cleaning that includes trash pick-up, dust mopping, vacuuming carpets, mopping of floors, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces. After discharge of patients EVS tech is responsible for terminal cleaning of rooms and all floors, and surfaces (walls, vents, cabinets, drawers, trash cans, toilets, commodes, showers, etc.)
- Execute scheduled floor care, including scrubbing, buffing and disinfecting of surgical suites and adjacent sterile corridors.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift between 25-50 lbs.
- Required:
Basic reading and comprehension skills - Preferred:
High School graduate or equivalent - Professional
Experience:
Prior institutional cleaning experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. - Computer
Competency:
Basic Computer Skills are expected for this position. Access email, reference internal websites, access electronic health records, and use online learning tools to remain current with continuing education requirements. - Microsoft Office Suite
Skills:
Beginning Skills – Able to perform basic things such as opening a document, change font, save a document, write a letter.
