System Administrator (IT Security)

Location: Stoughton, MA 02072

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days onsite, 3 days remote

Pay Rate: $37/hour (35 hours/week, $67,340 annually)

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator (IT Security) to manage the day-to-day support, maintenance, and security monitoring of enterprise IT systems and servers. This role is critical to ensuring systems remain secure, stable, and compliant. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, dedicated IT team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily monitoring of systems, verifying integrity, availability, and security of hardware, servers, and applications.
• Maintain and update system standards, applying OS patches and upgrades regularly.
• Manage and configure VMware Vcenter 6.5+/VSphere 6.5+, MS Exchange 2013+, Active Directory, and SAN systems.
• Audit and manage System Access Forms to ensure appropriate staff access.
• Monitor and maintain network switches (HP, Commware, Aruba) and Dell & HP servers.
• Conduct regular security monitoring to detect and respond to intrusions or vulnerabilities.
• Troubleshoot and recover from hardware/software failures, coordinating with impacted teams.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of all systems, processes, and security protocols.
• Provide staff training on security best practices and system use.

Required Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience with:
• VMware Vcenter 6.5+ and VSphere 6.5+
• Microsoft Exchange 2013+ and Active Directory
• HP, Commware, and Aruba switches
• Dell & HP servers, SAN systems (ISCSI, Starwinds VSAN, HP MSA)
• Strong knowledge of firewalls, VLANs, switching, and routing.
• Ability to conduct security audits, manage patches, and monitor systems proactively.
• Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
