Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Machining Manager leads people and processes, overseeing the day-to-day activities of Globe's machining departments. This individual will direct team activities with the goal of manufacturing the best possible products on-time while maintaining a safe working environment, continuously improving processes, being an asset to customers, and developing employees in knowledge/competency resulting in a more effective team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate departmental tasks and scheduling for a production team of 15-20 direct labor.
- Develop and execute production schedules to meet delivery deadlines, considering machine capacity, material availability, and labor requirements.
- Resolve problems relating to resources, equipment, materials, quality, or other factors that may result in production delays.
- Provide decisive leadership, giving clear direction in everyday and pressure situations.
- Execute a daily management system to engage the workforce and ensure daily performance metrics (Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery) are achieved.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Regularly review and update 5S procedures to adapt to changing production needs.
- Develops the technical capability of the workforce and leadership through ongoing training. Interview and hire CNC Machinists and Operators.
- Provide motivation, support, guidance, and constructive feedback to employees, developing and training them while building understanding of and alignment with company culture and goals. Deliver performance reviews and approve time off.
- Responsible for the safe operation of the department with adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the activities of the machining departments with department supervisors
- Establish and maintain strict quality standards, monitor production processes to identify and address quality issues, and implement corrective actions
- Oversee preventative maintenance schedules, ensure proper machine calibration, and identify opportunities for equipment upgrades to maximize efficiency
- Technical/computer skills (Excel, Cam Works, Solid Works, etc.)
- Organization skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong working knowledge of MRP systems
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute complex projects on time and within budget.
- 4 + years of experience managing and motivating a team, fostering collaboration, and resolving conflicts.
- College degree in engineering or business required
- 5+ years' experience in machine shop/manufacturing environmen
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Defense Manufacturing experience preferred
- Ability to move about a large manufacturing facility.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, on occasion.
- Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to wear PPE as necessary (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, etc.).
Time is spent equally between a typical office environment and a manufacturing environment with no major sources of discomfort. Essentially normal controlled working environments with noise levels within acceptable safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions.
To conform to U.S. Government export control regulations and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information restrictions, applicant must be a U.S citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorization from the U.S. Department of State or Department of Commerce.
Salary Range: DOE 100,
