• Under the direction of the RN, nurse manager or charge nurse, the LPN is responsible for utilizing the nursing process while delivering care to patients admitted to the nursing unit.
• Provide direct patient care to medically complex and/or critically ill patients requiring extended hospitalization.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of medical professionals (respiratory therapists, physical therapists, case managers, dietitians, speech language pathologists, and more) to assist in carrying out individualized care plans.
• Functions include gathering and reporting data, carrying out orders, and performing therapeutic procedures on patients in an age and population appropriate manner.
• May perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Holds current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) in the state where the hospital resides, or compact licensure if state participates. Current BLS certification required. BLS certification must be AHA approved within 90 days of employment.

• Current IV certification within 90 days of employment, if required per state regulations.

One year of inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience preferred but not required.
