- Education: Minimum Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor's in ECE, or Elementary Education with 18 ECE credits
- Certification: DPI certification in ECE or related field preferred;
Registry Level 14 or above within 90 days - Experience: Minimum 5 years in early care education setting with preschool teaching experience; strong partnerships with low-income, high-risk, multicultural families
- Specialized Knowledge: Trauma effects and manifestations, trauma-sensitive approaches, infant and early childhood mental health principles, anti-bias education
- Curriculum Expertise: Social-emotional learning centered curriculum design and implementation, systems/ecological planning lens
- Professional Competencies: Independent work capabilities, strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, patience
- Language: Bilingual in Spanish and/or Hmong preferred
- Additional Requirements: Valid Wisconsin Driver's License with adequate insurance
As a Therapeutic Education Leader, you'll create healing learning environments by:
- Leading the Therapeutic Early Childhood Program for families and children experiencing trauma
- Collaborating with Therapeutic Child and Family Resilience Specialist and Classroom Leaders
- Planning and implementing trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Centering social-emotional learning in all classroom activities, routines, and learning experiences
- Ensuring comprehensive child development services including education, health, nutrition, and family support
- Building strong partnerships with parents, children, coworkers, consultants, and community partners
- Applying systems/ecological lens to child, family, classroom, and site planning
- Following Head Start Performance Standards, licensing requirements, and accreditation criteria
- Supporting high-risk families with comprehensive mental health and educational services
