Materials Engineering Lab Technician – Vibration & Materials Testing

Location: Stoughton, WI;
Location: Onsite;
Pay Rate: $27–$30/hr;
Duration: 1 Year

Job Description

Performs routine materials engineering and laboratory testing within a vibration and materials testing environment supporting product development (PPT) and DVP&R programs. Conducts sample preparation, operates vibration and materials test equipment, executes standard and non‑standard test procedures, and records/interprets test data for engineering analysis and reporting. Supports test stand setup, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. Contributes to development of test methods, procedures, and documentation while ensuring data accuracy and compliance with laboratory quality standards.

Collaborates with engineering teams to support testing programs, scheduling, and reporting deliverables.

Required Skills
  • Hands‑on operation of laboratory test equipment (vibration and materials testing systems)
  • Sample preparation and execution of standardized test procedures/work instructions
  • Data acquisition, interpretation, and technical test reporting
  • Test stand setup, teardown, calibration, and maintenance
  • Troubleshooting and minor repair of lab instruments/equipment
  • Experience supporting engineering testing environments (PPT, DVP&R or equivalent)
  • Documentation of test methods, results, and quality procedures
  • Basic materials characterization (mechanical, physical, or microstructural testing)
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in vibration testing or materials engineering labs
  • Exposure to product development testing (PPT / DVP&R programs)
  • Ability to generate graphical/engineering test reports
  • Experience with test procedure development and calibration planning
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation
  • Experience supporting engineering teams in manufacturing or R&D environments
