Position Details
Schedule: Monday-Thursday from 5:30 AM-4:00 PM
Shift: 1st
Overtime: As required by business needs
What Youll Do -
You will inspect, measure, document, and support the quality of sheet metal components to ensure consistent adherence to specifications and standards.
Inspection Measurement:
- Perform work-in-process and final inspections of sheet metal components, sub-assemblies, and finished parts
- Read and interpret:
- Inspection procedures
- Blueprints and engineering drawings
- Tolerances and specifications
- Select and use appropriate measurement gages and instruments , including:
- Vernier calipers
- Micrometers
- Other inspection tools for variable and attribute measurements
- Evaluate inspection results to determine conformance to specifications
- Complete required inspection activities, including:
- First Article Inspection (FAI)
- First Piece Inspection (FPI)
- Lot-by-lot and continuous sampling inspections
- Random sampling audits
- PPAP and ISIR inspections (as assigned)
- Support production teams on the shop floor with:
- Inspection activities
- Problem identification
- Containment actions
- Quality issue resolution
- Rapidly escalate Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) misses and non-conformances to operators, leads, supervisors, and managers
- Assist in sorting, inspection, containment, and segregation of non-conforming material
- Provide clear feedback to support corrective actions and prevent recurrence
- Accurately document inspection results in data collection templates and tracking systems
- Maintain organized dimensional records and inspection reports
- Analyze inspection data to identify trends and support continuous improvement
- Track, monitor, and follow through on quality issues to closure
- Support Quality Management System (QMS ) activities and audits as required
- Adhere to all Cardinal Rules of Safety and company policies
- Work collaboratively with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams
- Communicate inspection results and quality concerns clearly and effectively
- Perform all tasks in a safe, efficient, timely, accurate, and productive manner
- Maintain dependable attendance and support required overtime
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education
Experience:
- High school diploma required
- Experience in quality inspection within fabrication or sheet metal manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated experience performing:
- In-process inspection
- Dimensional measurement of fabricated sheet metal parts
- Strong proficiency with measurement tools such as:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Other inspection instruments
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Working knowledge of:
- FAI, FPI, and ISIR processes
- Inspection methodologies and quality standards
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Basic math skills and comfort working with measurements and data
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with computers, including Excel and tablet-based data collection systems
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus
- High sense of urgency and accountability
- Persistent follow-through and issue ownership

This position requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation . Work is performed in a manufacturing environment and includes standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive use of hands and arms. The role may require handling parts, using measurement tools, and working both independently and on the production floor.
