The Plant Controller will oversee the financial activities of our 3 plants in Wisconsin for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial information including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, and cost and profitability reports.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:- Provides financial insight and guidance to plant leadership and the Plant Manager to ensure all management teams have the best information to enable understanding of operating results in order to make informed decisions to drive the business forward.
- Supports the Plant Manager to provide timely financial data for plant budgets.
- Ensures accuracy of the physical inventory and report all findings. Investigates and explains book-to-physical variances.
- Maintains a perpetual inventory for finished goods and reconciles this perpetual to production, shipping and returns.
- Analyzes potential excess and obsolete inventory items and performs monthly excess and obsolete calculations and capitalization production variance.
- Meets with the Plant Management team on a weekly basis to discuss financials; review operational KPI’s, open work orders and communicate financial gains or short falls from previous weeks operations.
- Actively engages with direct supervisor to grow in the Nelson perspective. This includes participation in monthly Controllership meetings.
- Ensures all plant related financials are stated accurately on the profit & loss statement and the balance sheet.
- Supports capital deployment by preparing capital expenditure reports.
- Applies statistical methods and performs analytics to determine manufacturing run rates, staff requirements, usage variances, standards and assess alternative approaches to drive cost improvements.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- 2+ years' experience working in manufacturing accounting with increasing responsibilities.
- Significant experience with ERP systems. Super-user in ORACLE desired
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be organized and able to prioritize.
- Analytical marketing research and planning
- Exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Computer proficiency in MS windows and office applications, specifically Excel and Power Point
- Leadership skills
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to recognize opportunities for Continuous Improvement at the Plant locations.
