Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Stow, Ohio – (On-site) – Monday-Friday
Salary: $65,000 to $70,000
Our client is a small, established nonprofit organization serving the local community through mission-driven programs and services. The organization values financial stewardship, operational efficiency, hands-on problem solving, and maintaining accurate financial records. The accounting function plays a key role in supporting grant management, fund accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and overall organizational decision-making.
Position OverviewThe Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations within a nonprofit environment, including general ledger maintenance, fund and grant accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close. This role will work closely with leadership and program teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, proper tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds, and compliance with grant and funding requirements.
The Staff Accountant will also assist with monitoring grant budgets, tracking grant-related expenditures, preparing supporting documentation, and assisting with financial reports required by government agencies, foundations, and other funding organizations.

- Assist with grant accounting, including recording grant revenue and tracking grant-related expenditures
- Monitor grant budgets and compare actual expenses to approved funding levels
- Ensure expenses are properly coded and allocated to the appropriate grant, program, department, or funding source
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual grant financial reporting
- Prepare grant-related schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 2+ years of accounting experience preferred
- Nonprofit, fund accounting, or grant accounting exposure a plus
- Experience with restricted funds, grant budgets, or grant reporting preferred
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations
