Title:
CURRICULUM FACILITATOR
Reports to:
Curriculum Supervisors
Job Objective:
Provides staff leadership for the continuous improvement of the
instructional program.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Valid state department of education license/certificate appropriate for the position.
* Master's degree or higher with training in curriculum and instruction preferred but not required.
* Must have 5+ years teaching in same subject/grade/specialty to be considered; best person for the job will be selected; seniority not a factor.
* Exhibits effective time management and resourceful problem-solving skills.
* Leadership and program specific skills substantiated by training/work experience.
* Demonstrates knowledge of community demographics, emerging educational/legislative issues, the district's cultural environment, program resources, and instructional practices.
* Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., negative tuberculosis test, etc).
* A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
* Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
* Keeps current with technology and other innovations related to program functions.
Essential Functions:
* Provides leadership to facilitate curriculum improvements, staff development activities, and proficiency test readiness.
* Helps resolve problems and sustain progress toward grade level/departmental objectives.
* Keeps administrators informed about grade level/departmental activities/emerging issues.
* Keeps current with state standards/guidelines and school improvement priorities (e.g., curriculum alignment, effective school management, evaluation-driven continuous improvement efforts, evidence-based teaching/learning strategies, positive school environments, etc.).
* Routinely interacts with building administrators, curriculum specialists and teachers to ensure complete intercommunication. Helps staff understand the collective goal and shared decisions for curriculum planning activities.
* Fosters mutual respect, collaboration and accountability at all system levels.
* Helps evaluate instructional prevention/intervention strategies.
* Prepares recommendations for curriculum/instruction enhancements.
* Monitors literature on teaching effectiveness and disseminates/models best practices information.
* Monitors exemplary instructional practices/innovations.
* Facilitates activities that link grade level/departmental planning with higher organizational objectives (e.g., curriculum improvements, staff development, student achievement test readiness, etc.).
* Demonstrates teaching techniques/best practices.
* Promotes effective communications and assistance. Uses problem-solving techniques to tactfully address questions/concerns. Refers district policy/procedure questions to administrators.
* Promotes academic excellence in a nurturing environment.
* Promotes the continuity of the instructional program. Provides insights about student skill progression and key contributions made by staff at each level.
* Analyzes proficiency and competency-based test results. Recommends instructional modifications and interventions that enhance student learning and improve test performance.
* Assists with the review and revision of the district's curriculum guides and courses of study.
* Assists with course of study transitions.
* Assists with the preparation of foundation/grant proposals as directed.
* Serves as a resource on curricula and other program issues. Works with supervisors and specialists to improve staff competencies.
* Serves on local professional growth and district curriculum committees as requested.
* Serves on curriculum writing and textbook/instructional resource adoption committees as requested.
* Seeks staff recommendations for instructional materials and equipment replacement/upgrades.
* Collaborates with other teachers. Shares knowledge and resources that enhance student learning.
* Collaborates with teachers to develop units, assessments, methods and implementation of the curriculum.
* Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time.
* Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
* Provides guidance, communicates expectations, and shows an active interest in student progress. Promotes academic success as an important priority for all students.
* Upholds the student conduct code. Maintains high expectations for behavior and performance.
* Works with the building principal to order authorized materials/supplies.
* Reports suspected child abuse and/or neglect to civil authorities as required by law.
* Represents the grade level/department at meetings outside of the district as requested.
* Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
* Participates in staff orientation processes as requested.
