Certified Dietary Manager (CDM)

The Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dietary department, including meal planning, food preparation, staff supervision, budgeting, and compliance with State, Federal, and local regulations. The Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) ensures residents receive nutritious, appetizing meals in accordance with their medical needs, preferences, and dietary restrictions.

- Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the dietary department.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies, including state, federal, and local health codes as the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM).
- Create and maintain nutritionally balanced menus in consultation with a Registered Dietitian.
- Manage food inventory, purchasing, and cost control within budgetary guidelines.
- Supervise, train, and schedule dietary staff; promote teamwork and professional development.
- Monitor food preparation and service to ensure quality, safety, and sanitation standards are met.
- Collaborate with nursing and other departments to address resident dietary needs and preferences.
- Maintain accurate records for menus, meal counts, and resident dietary information.
- Participate in care plan meetings as needed.

- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field preferred. - Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred or willingness to obtain within required timeframe.
- Previous experience in dietary management, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition, menu planning, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
