Living City Farms is looking for an
Assistant Farm Manager to join our team and help grow a mission-driven, community-oriented, and economically regenerative farm.

This is a hands-on position where no two days are exactly alike. You’ll work alongside the Farm Manager to grow crops, manage nursery operations, harvest and prepare produce, maintain farm infrastructure, and help develop efficient systems that allow the farm to grow.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with daily farm planning and task execution.
  • Prepare growing beds and assist with transplanting and direct seeding.
  • Weed, fertilize, provide foliar feeding, and assist with pest control.
  • Install and remove row covers, insect netting, and silage tarps.
  • Operate farm equipment, including a Bobcat compact tractor.
  • Help develop and improve regenerative farming systems and practices.
  • Seed vegetable flats according to the farm's crop plan.
  • Set up and maintain automatic irrigation systems.
  • Monitor transplant health and determine when plants are ready for the field.
  • Properly harden off transplants before planting.
  • Keep nursery areas organized and maintain accurate records using
    Tend farm management software
    .
  • Help develop nursery best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Harvest fresh produce multiple times each week based on crop availability and sales.
  • Collect harvest data and maintain records in Tend.
  • Help design and improve the wash and pack station.
  • Properly wash, sort, grade, store, and pack produce for sale.
  • Follow food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Help develop efficient post-harvest procedures and SOPs.
  • Help install season-extension infrastructure.
  • Build and develop new growing areas.
  • Plant trees and perennial crops.
  • Assist with general farm maintenance, including occasional mowing and weed whacking.
  • Help identify problems and develop creative solutions to improve farm operations.
Community & Customer Engagement
  • Assist with produce deliveries and build positive customer relationships.
  • Participate in farm tours, workshops, and community events.
  • Represent Living City Farms professionally in public settings.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader Good Place Holdings team.
