Summary
Stratford Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our World Language program. This role is essential in fostering a love for languages and cultures among students while promoting multilingualism and global citizenship. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of language acquisition, and a commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Stipend: $1500/year
Responsibilities- Facilitate the implementation of a comprehensive curriculum for world language courses that aligns with state standards and best practices in language education.
- Lead department meetings and mentor a team of world language teachers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Help facilitate language-related events, such as cultural celebrations, language fairs, and exchange programs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement in language learning.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the community to promote the importance of world languages and cultural awareness.
- Stay current with trends and research in language education, implementing innovative teaching strategies and technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid teaching certification in World Languages or relevant subject area.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a world language setting, with experience in a leadership role preferred.
- Strong understanding of second language acquisition theories and pedagogical approaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Proven ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment practices in world language education.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.
