Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary Special Education Resource Teacher to join our team at Second Hill Lane. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs and fostering an inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure that all students receive the necessary resources and accommodations to thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that goals are measurable and achievable.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students in the classroom.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in a resource room and/or within the general education setting.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to promote growth and success.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and records of student performance, IEP goals, and communication with families.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and self-advocacy.
  • Plan and facilitate annual, triannual, and transition PPT meetings for students within IEP compliance dates.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing insights and recommendations for student support and services.
  • Provide training and support to general education staff on best practices for accommodating students with special needs.
  • Engage with families to discuss student progress, address concerns, and provide resources for at-home support.
  • Stay current with special education laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and effectiveness in service delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Proven experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and resources to support student learning.
Additional Duties
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
